TENNESSEE CHAPTER

            The Tennessee chapter of the AATF received one of two large chapter awards for Outstanding Chapter of the Year at the AATF annual convention in Atlanta in July of 2004.

 

            Enrollment in Tennessee in the National French Contest (Le Grand Concours) continues to be strong, with more than 2,800 students participating in 2008, ranking our chapter ninth in the nation.

 

            A Memphis area student from Houston High School placed third nationally in the 2007 Concours National of the Alliance Française.

 

            Dr. Will Thompson of The University of Memphis is completing his three-year term as national Vice-President of the AATF in 2008.

 

· Rachel Markovitz, French teacher at Ridgeway High School in Memphis received an AATF Scholarship to participate in the AATF pre-conference experience in Switzerland and in Belgium in Summer 2008.

 

· Betsy Taylor of Franklin received a professional growth scholarship from Alpha Delta Kappa which will enable her to participate in the AATF Conference in Liège, Belgium.
